It seems that everyone has their own special reason for being attracted to American lighthouses.  For some, it is the history that surrounds them. These beacons have lighted the way for sailors since the birth of our country.   For others, since lighthouses come in a variety of shapes and sizes, it is the many different architectural styles and engineering ingenuity utilized in building these magnificent structures.  Yet for me, lighthouses are much more.  They are symbols of strength and hope.  They are reminders that even when life sends us into uncharted waters, somehow you can find your way back with the help of something or someone special.

Whatever it is that led you here, I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did taking them.  Please feel free to return again soon, as I am always traveling to new and interesting destinations and will hopefully be adding more to this site in the future !

"I can think of no other edifice constructed by man as altruistic as a lighthouse.  They were built only to serve.   They weren't built for any other purpose ..."
