Horton Point Light Southold, New York (Long Island) Originally commissioned for construction by George Washington in 1790, this light was rebuilt in 1857. It originally burned whale oil and sported a third-order Fresnel lens. High on the bluffs overlooking Long Island sound, this light was decommissioned in 1933, then reactivated in 1990. |
