Old Field Point Lighthouse Stony Brook, New York (Long Island) Located not far from Horton Point Light, this combination keeper's dwelling and lighthouse rises above the waters of Long Island Sound, warning passing ships of the dangerous coastline. It stands 35 feet tall and is made of solid granite with a cast iron lantern room. It was built in 1823 and furnished with a fourth-order Fresnel lens, which was later replaced with an airport-style beacon. The keeper's dwelling is now being used by the Village of Stony Brook, a tony development nearby. |
