Thomas Point Light Thomas Point Light
Chesapeake Bay, Maryland

This lighthouse is perhaps the most photographed beacon in all of the Chesapeake Bay.  The last operational screw pile lighthouse, it has been standing guard since 1875 to warn passing ships of the treacherous shoals just off Thomas Point near Annapolis.

This lighthouse can only be reached by boat.  On the day I took this photograph, the Bay was loaded with sailboats !  You can also see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in the distance on your left.
